Sunraysia Farmer's market

This morning we all got up nice and early and headed down to the Sunraysia Farmer's market for breakfast and a look around. It was a bit of a chilly morning, but we found a table with a spot of sun to sit and tuck into some delicious breakfast. The market is on every second Saturday morning (weather permitting), and despite having lived in Mildura for over a month already, this was the first chance I've had to check it out. Situated on the grassy banks of the Murray River, the majority of stalls sell local boutique-y type foods - think relishes, jams, olive oil, wine, Murray River pink salt, fresh bread, and of course lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. Because we're still poor students, we mainly just "window" shopped, but if money wasn't an issue I definitely would have returned home with an enormous bundle of tasty goods! I intend to visit the market a few more times during my stay in Mildura. Unfortunately it won't be on while my mum and sister are over to visit next week, but I'm sure we will find lots of other interesting places to explore.

Celia went for the big breakfast..

..and I chose pancakes and freshly squeezed orange juice. There was a choice of around 10 different homemade syrups or jams - I opted for natural yoghurt instead of cream, and drizzled my pancakes with fig syrup and a dollop of plum jam on the side.
Rachel and Elphin shared an egg & bacon roll

Little Elphin is not the most social dog... with so many other dogs around he had to be carried around the whole morning!

What a bargin - just $3 for this big bag of fresh oranges!

This hazelnut slice was delish!
